Amateur Radio
WN0JWA
I really think this is a great hobby.   I've wanted to do this since grade school.  Finally in college I got my Novice Class license.  Never got on the air.
WB9URA
In 1974 I went forward, got the license, upgraded to Advance, and was on the air.  Big-time.  Eventually I had RTTY, Packet, Fast Scan TV, and most bands.  My tower stood tall.  Some of the nicest people I have ever met are my friends thru ham radio.  The HF bands, or short-wave, are my favorites.  For about 10 years I was Emergency Coordinator for NW Cook County, IL Amateur Radio Emergency Service.  Great group of people.  We won a few awards and helped out during several power outages at a hospital and did great work during the great flood of 1987.
N9BHU
Linda got her Technician Class license.   She wears WB9URA on her car's plate and I use N9BHU on mine.  Before the advent of Cell Phones, ham radio was the leash.
Future
I highly recommend the hobby to you.  If you need help contact the American Radio Relay League, Newington, CT.
